Okay, so I know it's been forever since I've posted! I'm afraid I've gotten pretty skilled in the art of getting sidetracked lately...
...anyway, to make up for lost time, I've decided to pile a couple events into the same post.
Is that allowed?
Oh well, I gwine doin' it :-)
Katie's Indian friend, Therisa, has a sister who was recently married!
On our side of the Atlantic, we Americans decided to celebrate on her wedding day...Indian style.
Maura made Tandoori chicken (although I'm afraid we didn't have all the spices for the recipe. It was delicious anyway!)
I could get used to this kind of food. (Oh, and that mushy stuff is actually really good...despite its, well, mushy look. It's called raita, and it's a concoction of apples, spices, and yogurt.)
* * * *
We just got finished celebrating Mamaw's eighty-fourth B'day!
Here're the highlights:
Mama baked cakes, Katie and Maura baked cookies...Callie and Emori stayed out of the way.
Forget whistling...we turned up Maura's Mp3 player while we worked! |
Cake layers. Three of them (gasp). We don't...usually do that.
Moi. Making Mamaw's card. (Photo courtesy of Maura paparazzi)
Mamaw's a singer, so I made her a songbird themed card.
Sketching...
Taking my new wash brush for a test drive.
Slopping on the details (does that sound contradictory to you?)
Finished!
We celebrated at Aunt Nancy's restaurant.
Opening Presents....
Maura: "Whoa...what is it?"
Mamaw: "It's a paper mache rabbit!"
Maura: "I want to...touch it!"
The pic says it all. Mamaw's the kind of person who cuts her own birthday cake and serves every body else before herself. We love you, Mamaw!!! |
Coffee and coconut cake. Mmm.
Now say "goodbye."
Yours Truly,
Callie
